Malawi and Tanzania are exploring stronger healthcare cooperation following a specialist surgical outreach programme involving medical experts from Tanzania’s Benjamin Mkapa Hospital.

According to the Malawi Broadcasting Corporation, the programme assisted more than 700 patients at Mzuzu Central Hospital and Kamuzu Central Hospital.

The countries are also considering patient referral arrangements and cooperation in pharmaceutical supplies.

Why it matters: Specialist outreach and regional cooperation can help expand access to advanced care for Malawian patients.
